I’m a bit confused about working in “scale”. I’m creating some shampoo bottles. In reality, they’re about 2 in in diameter and 8 inches tall. I brought in a background reference image and traced it. Put that into the lathe element and got the bottle. It’s 28 inches tall. ??? Do I simply scale this down to a smaller size? There doesn’t seem to be a way to see the size – inches or cm – in the spline object so after it’s lathed, I have no idea how big it is. Also… is there a relationship to the scale of the object, like a bottle, and the resolution of the image for the label? I’m also unclear on this. Should I create art that’s, say, 2 inches wide by 7 inches tall for the front label and make that 200 PPI? It seems like sometimes when I put clean art on an object it renders in a lower resolution. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.
