  • Setting a specific start time for a video in the timeline?

Posted by Austin Brock on November 3, 2012 at 5:24 pm

I’m trying to move a project from PowerDirector to Sony Vegas, manually, by replicating the timeline.

I’ve synced the project to the audio in PowerDirector, and cannot find if there is a option in Sony Vegas that will allow me to specify the exact start time of a video after it is placed on the timeline.

It’d allow me to reference the PowerDirector project so that I can quickly position them in Sony Vegas.

Sorry if I’m not making clear sense.

Drop a marker (use the m key to do this) on your Vegas timeline at the desired start point.
Import the PowerDirector file and drop it on your timeline at this spot.
Delete the marker afterward if you want to by right-clicking on it and choosing Delete.

You can use View > Edit Details window to manually set the start of the selected event.
