  • Set reel name on 5d footage with davinci resolve

    hi everyone, i have a question 🙂
i must create some offline files with 5d and 7d footage in davinci resolve.
But i have a this problem, the name of the clips that i imported in davinci sometimes are repeated because the original files come frome 3 different cameras.
After editing i can’t relink my timeline with edl to the clip name because sometimes there are the same names.
So i need to export the off line files with reel name in metadata.
I don’t understand very well the”set reel name” options in davinci.
Can anyone explain me how can i set a reel name in my off line clips?

    Cheers
    David

I’m not at my machine now so i could test but in my mind there is 2 ways.

    1. have reel name extracted from folder name where you make different named folders for different cameras / file batches or what ever way you like to differentiate them.

    2. rename different camera files so that you have camera name somewhere in file name.
what i mean is you put stuff in separate folders and rename them there before ingest to Resolve

And from there from media pool files you make offline files.

Does it sound reasonable or am i to general here ?
