Activity Forums Creative Community Conversations Set default dissolve rate in FCPX

It is true that the original FCP overtook Avid in market share.

Given that Apple uses software to sell hardware there’s good business reasons to believe Apple wants to use FCPX to sell more hardware. I won’t get into the “pro” debate but I’d expect that they want FCPX to boost higher end iMac and MacPro sales.

Of course that’s true. If you follow the thread, though, that’s not what we’re talking about.

You responded to Paul Jay’s post specifically. What he said was true.

The thread is about dissolve rates preference setting which is in fractions of seconds rather than frames.
There’s no falsehoods there. There is judgement about that choice though.

How does FCPX show rates? I can understand 1/15 equals 2 frames but what about a trim for three frames? Or four?

It’s just the transition preference that doesn’t use frames. Everywhere else the application uses timecode.

    All the best,

    Tom

Ah. That’s much better. Thanks. I hope that don’t “improve” timecode with something “better”.

    Best,
    Park
