Server room / Remote mac pro and Da Vinci
Wondering if anyone is running a remote / server room installation of Da Vinci, and if they could recommend any products for USB / DVI / Audio extension. My main concerns are minimal or no latency, image quality and for everything to play nicely with the Davinci control surface.
Currently looking at the Adderlink Infinity or Avocent Emerge ECMS2000 but would appreciate any input or suggestions. Both are fairly expensive.

You could look at the Gefen DVI/USB Extenders.

I know a few large facilties that use the Avocent system, the major advantage being you can route any system in your MCR to any connected hub in the building.
You can also password protect certain systems, giving users access only to the systems they need.
Extenders will just do that, extend one system to a screen and control devices.

I’m only running 30 ft to server room, but basically using:
50 ft SDI runs to monitor and HDLINKPro -> Panasonic Plasma
50ft USB cable to USB hub on desk
30 ft Dual link DVI cable to 30″ monitor.I could have used the Panasonic DVI to SDI link to extend the monitor, but that doesn’t work over 1920×1080.
