Serious FCP5 Problems with output
We have a new G5 editing suite, but no TV monitor yet.
We just moved all past 10-bit uncompressed videos over and have ripped a few DVDs using DVDxDV into DV files to edit.
All project are set to high setting, High, full quailty, and all the other RT settings. I have even turned off the field order to none to improve the text.
So here is the problem, compressing to mpeg2 or anyother format takes way longer then it should example. 6mins to compresser 2 pass VBR takes 56mins to compress, an hour of footage was taking 10 hours. Called local editors and they said take off the self contain file check, even that took an hour, FCP5 seems to be taking a long time to do anything, even simple compression. When it does get outputed and burned, the white text on black is way to hot and there is a flicker to it. interlacing shows up really bad, but some of it goes away on the plasma. Also when using high settings in compresser it still would jump every once in a while and the motion would sometimes be poor. Most of this is cleaned up when watching it on a plasma or computer monitor, but you would still see a jump maybe and quailty could still be better.
We went back and did the same thing on the old G5 with FCP3 and had no problems, burned fast and compressed fine, no flaws.
Any ideas of what needs to be changed or fixed, it seems to be the computer and FCP5.
