sequence settings for mov-file
Hi there,
Well my name is Edu and this is my first visit to a forum, so I am not so used to it.And I have a question:
How do I fill in the sequence setting when I only want to import a mov-file (H.264) into my timeline.
I first look at my item properties of the file and then I have to fill in the sequence settings.
I’ve done that but I still need to render.
Is that normal or haven’t I got the right setting filled in? -

FCP doesn’t work well with h.264 files. You need to open the file in Compressor, then transfer it to ProRes using the same size and frame rate that the h.264 file has. Then just place that proves version in a sequence and when FCP 7 asks to conform, you say yes.

Thanx for your respond.I opend the file in Compressor (v 2.3) but I didn’t see a ProRes-setting I can choose.

It’s there… look in the compression presets for “advanced format conversion”. They are in a folder there…
Just apply the ProRes preset from there that matches the frame size and frame rate of the h.264 files. It will take a while to transcode, so don’t worry it’s normal.

I posted earlier my message with a picture of the Advanced Format Conversions I see.
Well, no ProRes 422 or something like that.
What can you suggest? -

Look in the Settings Pane in Compressor, in the Advanced format conversion folder there is another set of folders. In the one called “Apple Codecs” you’ll find the ProRes presets. Just drag them to the clip…
