Sequence Settings for mixed resolutions
Hi Everyone,
I’m starting a short film and some of the footage is 2048 X 1152 and some of the footage 1920 X 1080 (Slo-mo).
All of the footage is 23.976 apple pro res but I was wondering if it would be better to keep my sequence settings at 1920 X 1080 since it is the smaller resolution and so that it doesn’t have to be pushed to the 2K or should it be the other way around.
The director and dp also mentioned wanting it to be at a 1.85 ratio so there may be some cropping at the end.Thanks for anyone who has a moment to chime in.

Do 1920×1080 since you can adjust the larger size down and reframe as necessary.
Also check the footage by putting a 1.85 mask over it to make sure you don’t have to reposition any shots. An editor friend of mine is going through exactly this now, as the DP and director shot 16×9 but never considered it’s native 1.78 aspect ratio.

Do you know the dimensions of a 1:85 mask on a 1920 X 1080 Project? Or about how many pixels I have to
top and bottom for a that ratio.Thanks again.
