  Sequence Settings Fix?

  So I’ve created a timeline in a sequence that I need to change. Is there a way to change the sequence settings without screwing up the elements already in the timeline? The sequence I currently have is set to 16:9 however I need to to be 4:3. The elements are all 4:3. When I change the settings in the existing sequence to 4:3 the video is blown up in the 4:3 setting and looks incorrect. Is there a way to make the settings change and make the video fit properly in the 4:3 window?
