Sequence settings
Hi all
I need to import footage into final cut, XDCAM EX 1080p 23.98f, I know I have to get the sony plug-in for it, then once fcp open I go to “easy setup” to choose my format.
But if they dont have 23.98 f does this mean I have to convert it to 24 f?
VBR is better than CBR if I want to keep every inch of quality?
And before importing anything, is there any changes that should be done in the sequence settings?
I just want to do the right steps in order to import everything at its highest quality, I have Final Cut 7.0.2 and using apple prores 422 HQ.

Your easy set up will be like this…i think
Format: Sony XDCam HD
Rate: 23.98
Use: XDCam EX 1080p24As far as the VBR vs CBR thing…I actually didn’t know XDCam did both. Is there an setting that you are able to choose in the camera when you’re shooting? I’d go with whatever your camera recorded. If you don’t know what your camera recorded, I would ASSUME VBR is better because I know ProRes is a VBR codec. But that’s just an assumption, I’m not positive.
For ProRes, all you need is ProRes422, HQ is overkill.
