hey guys, first time joining this forum 😀 (also an amateur)
long time reader, but first time member hehe
sorry if this has been asked before, but every time when i’m creating a video using premiere, i always get confused as to which sequence setting should be perfect for me and also the export settings. most of the time the original video before edited is usually clear and sharp but after it gets exported it just gets so blurry. the video i try to edit is usually too large on the sequence screen (right top hand side) and i always have to resize it. what am i doing wrong?
the videos i try to edit is from my canon 7D so i guess its a High quality video (1920×1080). please excuse my amateurish language but yeah. i appreciate your help kindly, have a nice day and happy holidays!

    Hi Felix,

If you have CS5, the easiest option is to drag the footage into the new sequence icon (at the bottom of the project panel), that will create a sequence matching your footage.

For previous versions, you can create a desktop sequence under the “General” tab and pick your settings manually. In the case of the 7D, it will likely be 1920×1080 (square / PAR 1.0), and 24P or 30P.

For export, it will depend on where the footage is going. If this is for YouTube, you could start with H.264 at 1920×1080 (Square PAR) and at a bit rate of 12 Mb/s VBR 2 pass, or CBR for quicker render.

    yeah that’s the thing, i don’t have cs5 YET. hopefully soon 🙂
even when i’m editing the video and previewing it after rendering i can already tell that the quality has been degraded poorly, and especially after when i exported it.
usually i export the video for computers because i’ll be displaying it on a projector. sometimes for DVD’s
