I have a question regarding sequences.

My clips are all HDV(1080/60i), but my intended output is 30p. I found out that sequences can be set with different codecs and framerates than the clips used in it.

So, I’m curious. Would it be advised to begin the editing process inside of sequences that match what I want my destination to be (ProRes 422 1920×1080 30p, for example)?

Are there any repercussions or issues that could appear later on?

Any help would be appreciated. 🙂

Edit on a sequence that matches your clips.

Two options based on your final output.

    A. Trans-code your clips before you start to match your final output.

    B. Trans-code your final edit.

I would suggest doing some tests to see how the 60i footage converts to 30p before going to far along in the process. There are numerous ways to make that conversion, and the results will vary. I like and recommend Nattress Film Effects for this type of thing, but there are other options that are worth looking into.

    Best,

    Tom
