I had an assistant editor organize some interviews for me shot on the ex1 and brought into FCP natively using the calibrated plugin. When I got her project files, her sequence settings are all wrong–the aspect ratio is 1440×1080, and the pixel aspect ratio is too. For the XDCam timeline, the aspect ratio is 1920×1080, and the pixel aspect ratio is Square.

The problem is, when I copy over the footage in her timeline to mine, the aspect ratio is wrong, with the video squished into a square inside a widescreen frame. Likewise if I try to change her sequence settings to meet mine.

I hope I explained this clearly enough. Is there any solution to this, or does her work need to be redone?

    Thanks!

Select all the clips that are distorted, right click, select Remove Attributes, check the Distort checkbox, and hit okay.

They have shoot XDCAM SQ instead of HQ, which means plain HDV (1440×1080 HD pixels).

Is correct to edit that on a 1920×1080 SQ pixels (Prores better).
You should set your sequence the same and fallow David advise (Remove attributes> Basic Motion + Distort). The footage will fit in the canvas screen.
