  • Separating ‘S&Q Mode’ Clips in FCPX

    Hi folks,

    I am working in a 29.97 project.

All of our footage was shot on the Sony FS7 Mk II, some in realtime (29.97) and some in slow motion via S&Q Mode, with a ‘capture’ FPS of 59.94. I’m having trouble separating these S&Q slow motion clips from the realtime clips in FCPX, because the S&Q metadata reformats and ‘disguises’ the material as real time footage (although now in slow motion).

So to FCPX, they’re basically identical clips. I’ve been exploring alternative filtering methods, such as audio (S&Q clips contain no audio data), but have seen no success.

Perhaps there is no option, but I’m new to FCPX and just wanted to double check.

    Thank you,
    Ryan

I haven’t got any S&Q clips handy to check but do they show the actual frame rate in the Inspector? If so, you could create a smart collection that shows all clips with a frame rate that’s different to your timeline.
