How do I separate the audio track from the video track from an event on the timeline?

    Thanks,
    Richard

An ‘event’ is anything on the time line. So if you drag a clip with sound to the time line you have 2 events. One video event and one audio event. They are generallly grouped together and move together. To separate them so that they are individual events and can be moved separately, highlight eithre the audio event or the video event and press ‘U’ (ungroup). If you want to connect several events together, highlight all the events and press ‘G’ (group).

The method I prefer is to use the Ignore Event Grouping feature. There is a button on the toolbar that looks like an open lock.
