Working on a feature narrative. When creating separate tracks for each audio track – dialog, foley, effects, ect… how should I separate ambience from atmosphere/foley sounds? For example, a man walks into a room and sits down. I have a track of just the room tone but I also have the track of the man walking into the room with the VERY subtle sounds of his movement. Should I just use the “walking” take or is it better to create a “room tone” track then add the walking sounds in a separate track either by cutting the sounds from the walking take or by a foley session? Trying to do this the “correct” way and wondering how the pros do it.
