  • Separating an object from a video for use in a green screen?

    Hi, Vegas Pros.

I’m wondering how I can use Sony Vegas Pro 10 to separate an object and use it as a transparent item (i.e. one with a green screen)?

Here’s an example of what I mean. Someone has separated a large ship from the sky and trees, etc, from the film District 9. How can I do that with other things? Any tutorials or steps? Thanks! 🙂

It’s very difficult to do with a moving object from a regular video. You would need to do a traveling matte. Very time consuming

You would need a tool like the Roto Brush in Adobe After Effects. This is probably what they used.
