  • Separate A/V windows in timeline?

Posted by Scott Witthaus on July 20, 2005 at 11:32 am

    Hey all –

Coming from an Avid background, I do like the way that audio and video tracks on the timline are all in one window, and you scroll up and down in that window to view a particular track, audio and/or video, or, you can re-size your tracks to fit that one window.

In FCP, the audio and video tracks are in separate ‘windows’ on the timeline, and it becomes a pain to be scrolling around in 2 windows to find the tracks you need…plus it takes up needed real estate.

Is there a way to have one ‘sequence’ window where all A/V tracks are displayed rather than split between audio and video? I really would like to create one window, but if not, what is the secret to re-sizing those windows?

    Am I explaining this clearly?

    Thanks in advance.

One thing you can do is drag the double grey bars that separate the audio and video… i.e. they move up or down to reveal more of the video or audio. Usually, unless you have a ton of tracks, you can arrange the window so you can see all tracks that way.

    thanks Jerry –

That still leaves me one window for audio and one for video. I was hoping for a way to have one window that included both. Thanks.
