Seeking comment on the Sennheiser G3 series of wireless mics. Since my current mics are in the 700MHz band and specifically in the frequencies allocated to PD, FD and EMS in my region, I’ll need to ditch my current gear in favor of something new before the deadline in June. I’m looking at the Sennheiser, since it seems to be a good value with an excellent reputation. I’ve been using the Sony UWP series for 7 years, but have never been happy with the mic capsule size. So, shoot me your comments.

Hello Ed and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

The G3 is recognized as suitable professional wireless. There are others that are more expensive, by Sennheiser and other mfgrs.

Mic capsule size is largely irrelevant because most transmitters can be used with just about any lav. Countryman, for example, sells their mics with just about any plug around.

    Ed:

Your post is confusing because you interchange “mics” with the G3 radio systems. It’s not clear to me why you want to ditch your mics because you need to buy a new wireless system. Professional mics can work on any professional wireless system.

OK, guess I need to clarify…I’m looking at the G3 system of wireless mics.
