  • Sending project for Color Correction, Media Manager acting up

I need to send a project across the country for Color Correction and am trying to slim down the project size using FCP’s Media Manager. I’ve made a copy of the project without the “master clips outside selection.” When all is said and done, a huge chunk of the unused media files are no longer there which is good, but a few of the clips in the sequence have disappeared as well, not good. I’ve notice that the clips that are missing from the sequence have a speed change applied to them, and if they’re not completely gone only a few frames of the clips remain. Any idea what’s going on? And is there a better way to prepare a project, complete with all the media files, to send to a colourist not within reasonable distance?

Media Manager has a bug that manifests on speed change shots. I believe the latest version of FCP is the best for MM.

A way around the problem is to render QT files of the speed change shots and then drop them in the timeline to replace the original speed change shots. THe advantage of this is that a timelapse shot might be 16 minutes long for a ten second shot so it further reduces the media as well as avaioding the MM bug. btw the bug affects reverse shots too.
