  • Sending FCP project to Avid Express?

Hey folks, just wondering if I can actually cut a sequence in FCP-6 export an uncompressed QT, then open that into an Avid Express sequence? I’m not sure how old the Avid software is. I’m just trying to avoid having to move all of my media to an Avid Edit station
    Thanks

Sure. Most any Avid can read in standard Quicktime files (it’ll convert it to Avid’s proprietary codec)

FOOTAGE…yes. And it might happen like Aaron describes, Avid will convert it to its codec. However, if you want the CUT, you might need to get Automatic Duck Pro Export (www.automaticduck.com). You can try to export an EDL and see if Avid will import that. But the EDLs done this way tend to be full of errors and not everything comes across. The Duck is pretty much flawless. And by Pretty much I mean that there are many FCP effects that don’t translate to Avid.
