Sending EDL to DaVinci Resolve ISSUES
Hi,
after deciding to cut the project in Adobe Premiere that needs to send to the colourist that is using DaVinci Resolve.
All Applications are update on both sides.So my issue is the colourist wants the Sequence from Premiere cleaned up with no effects and etc… as EDL.
No problem let me send out the sequence which contains RED footage as a EDL plus copy the media that is needed.
BUT when importing it into DaVinci the clips are ether wrong or the timing is not in sync with the timecode in Resolve.What is causing this issue?
P.S. I already offered a XML but they want a EDL.

Did you use the Red footage for the edit or did you have proxies made? Did you change the clip framerates from the interpret footage menu?

No Proxy just the RED RAW clips. Regarding the interpret footage menu you mean in Premiere?

Yes. Because those changes do not translate through an EDL or an XML.

I will have to double check, but the clips are direct from the browser with no effects or setting changes.

“If you’ve cut it from the original clips and not done anything special with them then the question is: Does the colorist actually know how to conform an edit?

I would assume yes… I do get the same result here on my own workstation.

the interpret mode is greyed out in Premiere.
Could it be something in DaVinci? -
Have you tried the XML? Are you using the same timecode reading setting in both applications (TOD timecode or edge timecode)? Do you know how to conform an edit into Resolve?

I already tried the different Timecode option in Resolve when i use Absolute and Edge the clips come in as offline, with Camera I get the issue as mentioned.
Where can I check the timecode option in Premiere. Under Preferences Indeterminate Media Timebase is set to 29,97 fps Drop-Frame. The project is set to 25 fps. I am not a expert in Resolve.

It’s under modify – timecode. Original timecode is edge timecode and alternative timecode is the absolute timecode.

Indeterminate media database means if you bring in footage that doesn’t have fps metadata (eg. some image sequences) then those will be imported at the frame rate set for that setting.
That doesn’t do anything with Red stuff but it’s good to know.
