  • Sending an email to alert when a file has encoded

Posted by Lawrence Eaton on July 30, 2012 at 6:14 pm

Is there a way that I can set up compressor to send me JUST an email saying the job has finished, rather than trying to send an email with the who file in it?

I realise this may not be the forum for this but thought I’d ask as Compressor has the function to send a notice when finished encoding and everytime I set it up it seemingly tries to send me a file as large as the contents of the British Library!

Any help would be most gratefully received,

    Lawrence

This might be a job for folder actions. Right click your folder and select Folder Actions Setup, there might be something useful in there.

I’d use Automator create a quick action to send an email and then add that to the what to do when the job’s finished option in Compressor.

I made a similar script that uses Growl to send a push notification to my iPhone as soon as the render is done. I can add it as the post render task in Compressor or FCPX.

Could you elaborate on this for us? I would love to have push notifications when my tasks complete.
