Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy ‘Send to Motion’ not Working

  • ‘Send to Motion’ not Working

I’ve recently had a couple of bugs with my Mac and the last problem with FCP that I can’t seem to clear is when I try to Send a selection from my FCP timeline to Motion.

I get the normal dialogue box and have Launch Motion and Embed Motion Content ticked but all I get after completing the dialogue box is a new veiwer pane with the clip I’m trying to send in it in FCP.

The timeline shows that the Motion sequence is now embedded but Motion doesn’t launch.

If I manually launch Motion I can open the saved Motion project and work normally and when I return to FCP the embedded Motion reflects the changes I have made.
Still I used to be able to do all of this by simply sending to Motion from FCP.

I’ve tried trashing my FCP preferences but that hasn’t worked, then again I may have missed something.

Does anyone here have any ideas about fixing this as I notice a similar question on Apples FCP forum has never been answered?

Problem Solved… and it was my mistake.
I had stupidly set my External Video editor to FCP in the FCP System Settings.
Clearing this back to ‘none’ fixed the problem and the sequences are now sent from the timeline to Motion andMotion launches as it used to.
