Without the Send To, what’s your workflow for round-tripping a “stack o’ clips”, stills, audio (edited VO, etc) and whatnot? Something like copying the range of clips into a new Project, and exporting a layer at a time, disable/enable clips as you go?

Since I wasn’t floored by PPro 6 (impressed, but not floored), I’m “back to the books” with FCPX to at least be comfortable working in it. (Comfortable does not necessarily equate to “prefer”.) But “send to” is something I use A LOT in FCP and PPro.

PS – I was surprised that on searching this topic, I didn’t find much discussion on work-arounds.

    Bob,

Maybe this thread will give you some hope?

No hope – seems exactly what I described in my first para.

Guess I was hoping for something more…. “elegant”.

I’d have thought there’d be more people voicing (extreme) displeasure over this. One step “forwards”, 7 years backwards….

    Bob,

Have you had chance to see Mark Spencer and Steve Martin’s podcasts at https://www.rippletraining.com ?

I believe the one on ‘Customising a title in Final Cut Pro X’ might help, with the new workflow.

    Sorry about the earlier post,

    Lawrence

About 75 percent of the work I used “Send To” for can be accomplished by creating effects, transitions, generators or titles in Motion and publishing to FCPX. For the other 25 percent, it can be a little difficult.

I’m holding out hope that, like multicam, this will be one of those features can gets added back in.

Here is another good thread that describes another workflow.

Instead of banging my head against the wall and yelling at Apple Scot describes a new way of thinking about how and when to add titles to clips. In short, don’t even try to roundtrip. Just open the needed clip directly from the Finder into Motion. Scot explains the rest.
