  Send to compressor/Should I wait for beachball?

  Because exporting from FCP causes corrupt renders 100% of the time, I’m told that the cure is to “send to compressor”. After dropping a setting on the file though I get a beachball. Now I know that the process is longer this way but I thought that was after I hit submit. Should I be waiting out the beachball for an hour or is this just the program freezing up and if so how do I stop it? Compressor 4.03/FCP 10.06 Imac 2011 27″ 16gig ram 3.4 i7.
