Selection Tool is teasing me
This happens to me every two or three weeks. The selection tool just disappears from my Keyboard configuration, meaning that my a button ceases to work. I then enter the keyboard configuration to assign it again but it’s not possible to assign anything to the a button. The a button does figure next to the action but not on the keyboard itself. It just remains blank and does not work.
I always fix the problem by deleting the three settings files and then reopening Final Cut Pro. But this is annoying as I then have to change several settings all over again.
Is there any explanation to this or does FCP just act weird sometimes?

Look in the keyboard prefpane for your computer (not FCP prefs). Something else may be using that keyboard shortcut globally and overriding FCP. You can modify this there, if that’s the case.
