  • Selecting Viewports (w/o deselecting objects)?

Posted by Joe Walker on October 17, 2011 at 8:16 pm

The title says it all. I have objects selected and I’d like to render a frame from a different viewport (perspective then camera and so on) without unintentionally selecting an object or deselecting the ones I already have selected. I know I can click on the grey area in the title bar of each viewport but I need the keyboard shortcut for this.

I ran into this problem with Maya and it turned out to be as simple as hitting the spacebar while hovering the cursor over the viewport – not so in C4D-R13

    Anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but that brings the viewports to a single pane view. I need to stay in a four pane setup and switch between which is active.

the hover the cursor and hit the spacebar works here (R13), it also swaps the tool but Option(Alt)-spacebar changes the widow focus without swapping tools. You can also Option(Alt)-click on the windows without selecting/deselecting objects

Ah … sorry. Not sure if this is what you’re after (editor render or PV render?), but you don’t have to make a viewport window active to render it’s editor view. Just place the cursor in the view and hit Ctrl+R. That view will render even if another view is highlighted. No clicking required.
