  • Selecting a clip, then using the Blade tool

Posted by Luke Hartley on September 18, 2011 at 8:41 pm

I single click a clip that is in my timeline to select it, i then hit my hotkey B to blade the clip into 2 pieces.
    Nothing happens!
I have to hit the ESC key to deselect the clip, then single click it to select it again and hit the hotkey again. NOW IT BLADES into 2 pieces??

    Anyone else have this issue?

If you close and reopen FCPX is it an immediately repeatable issue for you?

I haven’t had this specific problem although I have occasional run into a situation where I can no longer select clips. Quitting and reopening clears up the issue.

Yes, this seems to fix it.
Unfortunately, FCPX is now taking 10minutes to quit and another 10-12minutes to open again.

I believe I’ve put too many clips in a single event and this is causing a major performance hit.
