  • Select A/B sides in trim mode via keyboard?

Posted by Ron James on March 30, 2007 at 10:08 pm

I’ve searched high and low for this, but haven’t found anything…

Is there any keyboard shortcut for selecting the a or b side of an edit when in trim mode, so I don’t have to move the cursor?

I know it’s not a big deal to grab the mouse and move the cursor, but sometimes I dump 10 or 15 clips into a timeline and the head/tail of each clip needs to be trimmed, and I can do the entire timeline quickly from just the keyboard. The only thing that slows me down is going for the mouse.

Thanks a lot for any help!

Look in the Command Palette (Ctrl+3 on a PC) and you’ll see them there. You have to map them to your keyboard. In Media Composer they’re already mapped, to P [ and ] (trim A, A/B, B) if I remember right. I assume you’re on Xpress Pro.

Ah! Don’t know why I didn’t check there.

Yes, I’m Xpress Pro, I should’ve mentioned that of course. Just mapped them.

    Thanks a lot!
