    Hello,

I’m Scarlett from ClouZen, a company specializing in the manufacture of memory card backup devices.

We are developing a new product: a multi-memory card backup device that can simultaneously back up as many as 16 memory cards at once.

It is specifically targeted at entertainment productions that require backing up over 20 memory cards simultaneously.

    Currently, the prototype includes:

    – 8 x SD (SDXC) or microSD slots

    – 7 x CFexpress or XQD slots

    – 1 x USB port (for external card readers)

As part of our market research, we are trying to understand the types of cameras and memory cards commonly used in reality shows, particularly in the U.S. and Europe. In Korea, where 90% of the memory cards used in reality show productions are SD cards, most professionals have suggested replacing the CFexpress/XQD slots entirely with SD card slots.

Could anyone with experience in reality TV production in the U.S., Europe, or other countries kindly share:

    1) What types of memory cards (SD, CFexpress, XQD, others) are most commonly used in reality TV productions?

    2) What should be the ideal ratio of SD (or microSD) card slots to CFexpress (or XQD) slots to USB ports? For example: 8:7:1, 14:1:1, or another configuration?

Your insights are crucial for us to tailor our product effectively to meet international market needs.

    Thank you!

I think any SD Cards that are Class 10 or more should be great because it helps with the speed of the SD card while its recording! Anything Sandisk branded is what I truly recommend, can go up to 1-2TB of storage so it all depends on what kind of video productions you plan to use. Many YouTubers like myself has some insights on the best SD Cards to use for this situation. Make sure you seek which SD Card Classes and speed is compatible with the video cameras you are using for the production. Hope it helps! 🙂
