    Hey All,

I soon may have to build an edit room using two Avids and an Avid Expess DV. Those are unfortunately all the details I have, as I do not yet know the format the show will be shot on (presumably DVCam (possibly24p)) or the format it will need to be delivered in (most likely for television rather than film). The show doesn’t even have an editor yet. But as someone interviewing for the assistant job, it was brought to my attention that each of the editors in the running will want to work with Avid.

I have been using FCP for the past few years, but have an Avid background. However, I am not as familiar with the newer systems or the way they share files on whatever kind of network Avid is using these days.

Does anyone out there with experience in this area? Could you help to point me in the right direction and give some strengths/pitfalls of networking newer Avids?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Try looking at the Avid website and searching for “Unity” and “Isis” and “LANshare”. These are their primary “shared storage” products.
For only a 3 seat system, you’re probably looking at LAN share.

    Pitfalls? Price!
