Is there a good educational book, or DVD that clearly and completely explains all the intricacies of fileds, frame rates, pulldown in both SD and HD?

I know there was a book I think called videosyncracies or something, but not sure if that deals with the new world of HD and mainly progressive displays.

This is all a bit confusing!

    thanks!

Creating Motion Graphics with Chris and Trish Meyer. There are several volumes of this book so make sure you get the correct one. They also have a column at DV.com where you can find some articles made by the mentioned authors. I don’t think the first volumes cover any HD stuff.
I am sure that if you google the terms you ask for, you will find in-depth articles anf tutorials as well.

Videosyncrasies was created by Trish and Chris Meyer. If you go to their site at cybmotion.com, you may find more info.

Probably 98% of the information in the Meyer’s Videosyncrasies is still valid. The only thing HD adds to the issue is more pixels. Interlacing, aspect ratios, frame rates, pulldowns

    Hi.

I Don’t have any recomendations on books but wanted to let you know that besides having higher resolution HD has a square aspect ratio, is upperfield first, black is defined as 0 no 7.5. There some other issues that will definitely come back to bite you if you don’t know what they are so researching those diferences are important.

Didn’t want you misled by an earlier post.

    thanks for the heads up.
I will look into Videosyncracies with your info..

I am surprised that Videosyncracies hasn’t been updated for HD.

    thanks!
