Seek to Source

Hi Guys…

Grasping here….but looking for a function similar to edit’s “Seek to Source”

in edit you could go to the source viewer and hit f2.

the Seek to source window allowed you to enter a timecode and optionally a reel fro the reel list.

this would pull that particular frame right into the source viewer. this was really great when working with a producer during the intial stages of an edit. They could just call out TC’s and you could move really fast.

If the reel wasn’t specified, it would let you cycle through all occurences of the matching TC until you found the right shot.

Can Find (Ctrl+F) be used with wild cards or something of the like to emulate this behavior in Premiere?

From the timeline with the CTI over the frame (or clip) press “T” for match frame. It will locate that frame and place the clip in the source window. The TC will display bottom left of the Source Monitor. In fact this is the only way to reveal the source TC.

No option to find the reel apart from Right click on the clip in the timeline – menu: Reveal Source in Project (where your reeel name will be hopefully)

Well…I know about match frame, but this is not exactly what I’m looking for…

Let’s say you’ve not layed down a single edit on your sequence…

With Seek to source…

Producer says “Show me 01:25:32:12 on reel 003”

you just type the tc in and bam….the clip is pulled into the source viewer from the bin (or from the main DB of your captured media anyway)…and the frame is displayed…you go forward from there….

It is sooooo FAST working that way….

oh well…where do I make feature requests?
