    Hey guys. I’m having trouble using the seedRandom function. In any context when I use it, even when copying other scripts from Dan’s website, I get the following error:

    Function seedRandom is undefined

    I’m currently using version 7 Pro. Is this something that would be fixed with a reinstallation or is it something simple I’m just completely missing?

    Thanks!

    It sounds strange, but it’s hard to say for sure without seeing it in context. Please paste in (here) an expression that generates the error.

    It unfortunately happens in even the simplest expressions. Here’s an example of something simple that generates the error:

    seedRandom(3,true);
    random()

    I can use the function successfully on my laptop, but not on my main editing machine.

    You could probably get that message in AE 5.5, but if you’re getting it in AE 7, I have no idea what’s going on. Sorry.

    Hmm… I may have to reinstall and see what happens.

    By the way, Dan, thanks for maintaining the motionscript website. I’ve been constantly referencing it for educational and inspirational purposes over the past year, most recently for an IK project. It’s been a great resource. Thanks!
