October 17, 2005 at 6:18 pmYou only have control over the Title button and the Menu button in a timeline really, so if you want it to do something else you’ll have to bend the viewers perception of what they are seeing. For instance, if you want to do what you are asking, you can create your link to your video, but instead of having it point to a timeline, have it point to a menu with a motion background with a 1 pixel size button in the bottom corner (off screen so they can’t see it) then you can create your link for that button so that if they push enter while on that “timeline” they’ll be linked somewhere else. The problems with doing it this way is that you can’t fast forward a menu, and you can’t skip to the next chapter point, and you can’t access the real menu by pushing menu, only the title button will make the dvd hopp to a different section before the menu ends (besides pushing enter). So if you are going to do this, make sure not to have the “timeline” be too long since they can’t navigate. Another way to have a secret timeline is to just put a small pixel size button on the normal menu and then place it away from the text. Consider whether or not you want it to be hard or easy to find. Contrast to the DVD picture can make it easier to find. Also, consider whether you want it to auto activate or if you want them to have to push enter.
