    It looks like some particle generator with inherited velocity and then roughen edges applied.

    Hi Szymon, what do you mean be inherited velocity? Will I have to create a shape layer, track it to to the object and apply a particle generator after?

    There is an option in Particle Systems II or Particular (but you have to have license to use Particular), tab Physics that is called ‘Inherit velocity’. That means particles will inherit velocity from emitter. In the animation you can see some ‘blobs’ moving towards the phone and i think it could be made this way.
