I recently migrated my data from my old iMac to the new one.
Now when I try to activate MC, I get this error message –

“101 Activation Failed. Seat count failed on System ID############”

I had to create a new user account during migration, is this the issue?
I tried running and activating under both accounts and get the same error.

Did you deactivate Media Composer on your old system before you migrated to your new one?

    You know, I did not.
Now when I attempt to do so I am unable, message tells me there is nothing to deactivate.

I had pulled the drive from the old Mac and did data transfer from that.
It did not occur to me it would be necessary under those conditions.
Perhaps booting externally from that old drive would allow me to deactivate …?

Try that. If that doesn’t let you deactivate, call Avid support and they should be able to straighten it out.

just call Avid…it takes 5 mins and you are done.
I’ve had to call them a few times to get a deactivation done…not a big deal.
