    Hello!

I’m working on a project that involves lots and lots and lots of clips in the browser (1000-2000). I’m logging the shots diligently, and have a fairly thorough organizational structure of bins, but when it comes time for editing, I know it will still be a hassle finding the right shot. I’m giving each clip a name (generally date and shot number (ie. 1231001), since this will be shot over a year or so, and describing the shot/putting keywords in the Log Note column.

The built-in Command-F function works, but only barely. I have to select the top to search all clips, and it only finds one clip at a time, and I have to exit the search window to view the clip. Clearly, the search function was not built for what I’m hoping to do, which is type in a keyword or phrase (the subject of the documentary preaches, so searching for the keyword PREACHING to find clips of him preaching) and see only the clips that have said keyword – photo softwares like Aperture or Lightroom have this ability.

Any ideas for plugins, external software, or simply Final Cut features I’ve missed? Thank you! I greatly appreciate all the help I’ve always gotten on the Cow!

There is a useful link to a cow article here … https://library.creativecow.net/articles/lau_dustin/mediamanagement.php
Surely “find all” does what you want? It opens a new browser window with just the found clips in. Avid has a custom sift function and then show sifted but as far as I know, (correct me if I am wrong somebody) it has no find function for finding clips in a bin.
    I hope this helps, Matt.

Hi David – I know this is a very late reply and you’re probably done with this project, but we offer a dialog search tool for use with FCP that is just what you described….its called Get and is available from our website at getphonetic dot com….Regards, Doug
