  • Search and Replace in C4D?

    Is it possible to quickly search and replace in C4D elements of one kind with elements of another kind. For example I have imported a scene with 50 cubes and need to replace the cubes with spheres. Is there a quick way to do it?

    There’s no search and replace function, but you can do it indirectly with Mograph.

    1. drag the objects you want to replace under a Fracture Object (mode set to “straight”);

    2. drag the object you want to use as the replacement object under a cloner and set the number of clones according to the number of objects that will be replaced;

    3. create an inheritance effector targeted to the fracture object, and check the “morph motion object” box;

    4. make the cloner editable and delete the fracture object.

    xsyann (https://www.xsyann.com/) has a plugin called SetInstance that can make instances of multiple objects at once (the 12 version works in 13). You’d select all the cubes, run SetInstance, add a sphere and then set the Reference Object of all the newly created instances to the sphere (by selecting them all at once and dragging the sphere into the slot)

    As usual your suggestion is excellent. Thank you.

    Adam, that is pretty cool! I feel that this approach has quite a potential – so many things can be done with it… Thank you.
