I’m creating a starfield flythrough and need the clip to be seamless and looping. What’s the best way to approach this job and should I look at this from a different approach?

I can use a lot of files of photoshop generated stars and zoom through a set of starfields, then I can set them to exactly overlap and create my seamless transition. Is there another way? It’s pretty interesting to try to get the behaviour to be nice and even but I think that if I play with the speed and velocity controls enough it might look ok, its very tedious to do it this way though.

If I use the particle generator I think I will not get a seamless clip as I can’t cut the end into the start perfectly.

Thanks for any tips on how to approach this.

Here what I did when I needed a seamless background loop:
put the stars / background in a fresh comp.
depending on what’s going on in the frame, go to 2 sec from the beginning of da comp.
This will be the first frame of the new background loop. We’ll refer to it as frame X
duplicate the background, move it to the end of your comp so that frame X is also the last.
Now animate opacity for top layer from 0 to 100%, 100% is frame X.

define work area from frame X (bottom layer) to frame X (top layer)
render away – get a movie – loop it ad infinitum.

sorry for the ayato style lame english, im under some nasty flu.

Nothing wrong with the English but plenty wrong with my lame knowledge of AE so far.
Am I able to do that with the effect filter generated footage?
I’ll go and have a play now, thanks for the tip.

    Not to worry my friend.
After Effects is the first piece of software I use that caused my to talk to myself ALOUD alot,
trying to figure how to do stuff logically.

as the saying goes there’s more than one way to skin a comp …

    cheers
