Seagate FreeAgent for Mac 1.5TB
I’m upgrading to a new Macbook pro and a new external connected via FW800. I’m being steered towards the Freeagent for Mac https://freeagent.seagate.com/en-us/hard-drive/hard-drive-mac/Free-Agent.html.
I mostly do small 5-10 minute videos, using FCP 6, After Effects, Photoshop and Fireworks MX.
I’m only a hobbiest wityh the occasional paying job, and like to take my gear with me and edit on the road.
Does anyone have anything to say about the FreeAgent for Mack Desk?

I own one of the FreeAgent drives and it’s great. However for the price I would purchase a VoyagerQ found here: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/FWU2ESHDK/
Buy SATA drives at a fraction of the cost. If your worried the fragility of a drive buy a Protectadrive:

I think there are better options if you go to work “on the road”.
I would recommend you a Quad connexion HD.
Make sure that you can bus-power it through FW.
And the lower spinning speed, the less batteries will eat.

Thanks for the replies, I should add that when I’m editing, I always use AC even on the road.
I noticed the new MacBook Pros have a slot for a sata connection ( card slot). Can you suggest any external drives with e sata that are as portable as the Freeagent for Desk ? Although FW 800 woks good for me.
