  • SDX900 price drop – any thoughts?

I just wanted to get some opinions on the $10,250 price drop on the SDX900. What do you think this means, and do you think it’s still a good idea to get one of these cameras for the long haul.

Also, do you think I could take the savings, kick in a little more and get an HVX200 to compliment the 900? Of course I know the P2 aspect would be different.

You might consider getting a VariCam. Much higher quality and you would have one camera that could do it all.

If the price is too high, you could probably pick one up used.

I happen to know of one, by the way, write me off list if you are interested.

    Good shooting!

Would love to, but used gear and grant funding don’t mix.

Use the “extra” money to get yourself a really nice HD lens for the 900, if you decide to go the 900 route.

Unless you are doing a filmout or intend on eventually buying an HD camera the extra cost for the HD lens is not worth it.

On that note if I was doing a film out today I would not be shooting with ENG lenses instead I would opt for primes.

We bought an HD lens to eventually upgrade to an HD camera, but I highly disagree with what you said. An HD lens make a better picture, hands down.
