SDI output and bm codec
Hey, I have a blackmagic decklink extreme and would like to use it to output pro video player using the SDI output. My problem in the past is that I have to use the blackmagic codec to output video via the card. I want to output video via the SDI without using the bm codec, is there a way around this? I do not know if it was my last playback software which was Virtual VTR or if pro video player will help clean up this problem? What is the best or preferred way to get my signal out via SDI? I have looked at DVI to sdi converters and am leaning that way currently but was curious if I was not doing something correct with the decklink card. Any ideas?

Hi.
You can output video with DL Extreme component or SDI even if it is not originally made with BM codec. You just need to have working setup with your BM card. Import video files in dedicated editing software you have FCP or Premiere and make the timeline to render as with your software if some files are with different codec. I assume that the video files are with the same parameters in resolution and frame rate as the BM DL Extreme is set up i.e. PAL for pal files and field order but different codec like DV avi/mov or uncompressed avi/mov etc. I hope you get the idea. I have now set up both PC and Mac so i can use virtually eny files that my editing software is able to import
and play after render and output them to SDI. Again correct setup of editing software and DL input output options are must.—
