When sending perfectly mastered audio over an SDI channel–be it HD or SD–would there ever be an occasion that a deck would show overmodulation of signals? We’ve sent a SDI stereo pair to a D5 w/ the PCM input channels to unity using a blackmagic HD card w/ a FCP 4.5 system. I’m curious to know, if the digital audio is properly limited, would sending audio via SDI need any level adjustment on the deck?

FCP doesn’t add any gain whatsoever–as far as we know–because mastering Digibeta via SDI produces excellent repeatable results for audio.

Has anyone had such an experience where SDI audio was overmodulated or peaked? Sorry for cross-posting!
