    Hey All.

I’m trying to put one line of white text on a black background, burn it to a DVD, and play it on a widescreen tv. The only problem I’m having right now is that the text seems to be squished vertically about 80% or so. I’m using what I believe to be a vanilla NTSC setting (720 x 480).

I notice in the Timeline Settings of FCP that there are two things that might help solve this problem: a Pixel Aspect Ratio and an Anamorphic 16:9 checkbox. I’m guessing it would be good to check the 16:9 option. Should Pixel Ratio be NTSC or Square?

    Thanks.

Yes, check the anamorphic option. Leave pixel aspect ratio as NTSC, not square. You may have to set these first, then put your text on the timeline.
