SD card recommendations
Posted by Rod Minott on May 14, 2009 at 7:28 pmI’d like to purchase 32GB SD cards and plan to use them with MxR Expresscard readers in my Sony EX3. What brand of 32GB work best and where can they be purchased?

May 14, 2009 at 9:07 pmTranscend SDHC Class 6 32GB seems to be the only reliable one right now.
The older Sandisk Ultra II Class 2 32GB worked but the newer Class 4 do not. -

May 14, 2009 at 9:08 pmThanks. Any recommendations on where to purchase them: Amazon, J&R? I don’t believe B&H carries Transcend.

May 14, 2009 at 9:15 pmWhy not go with two 16gb cards? Better value and less risk in case of card failure (only loose one hour as opposed to two).

May 14, 2009 at 9:26 pm[neil Jay] “Why not go with two 16gb cards?”
Because one may want to go more than two hours and not have to change cards.[neil Jay] “less risk in case of card failure (only loose one hour as opposed to two). “
INMHO the act of changing a card can be a risk for many reasons. 4 hours can stay in the camera for nearly all my shoots. I don’t have to change cards at all. To me that’s least risky. Nothing in pocket or bag to lose. No having to open the slot door while camera is rolling. If I lose 1 or 2 hours the shoot is tanked either way. Not having to change cards is one less risk and often a lot less risk IMHO. -
