Scrubbing in timeline and fast forward audio question
I’m finally taking some time with Premiere to learn the ins and outs (pun intended). Been dabbling for the past year, so I have a good foundation. FCP7 keyboard layout… check. Very happy when cutting in it last night.
I’m coming from FCP legacy, so everything I’m used to is from that perspective. What I’m seeing in Premiere is that scrubbing in the timeline doesn’t update wherever the playhead is. I have to stop, wait for it to refresh, and go again.
I admit to being at a bit of a speed deficiency. System specs – 2011 Mac Pro 13″ with 8GB ram. Footage is AVCHD from a GH2 running off a FW 800 drive. No transcode, so working with raw media. In FCP7 with the same setup BUT with prores footage, scrubbing is fine and as expected, even with 1080p.
Is this just par for the course given my system speed and drive limitation? 2x fast forward plays fine but it gets very choppy as I go faster than that.
Last question, is there a way in premiere to get the audio to pitch correct when fast forwarding? This is a great feature in FCP, as I play a shot at 2x and know where I am in the dialogue or interview. Great for client driven edit sessions, docu work, corporate, etc…
Thanks.
