scrubber not moving while sequence is playing
this is a new one for me, Just happened, the scrubber stopped moving while the the timeline is playing. When I hit the space bar it will jump to where I stopped it. the audio does not show levels nor the scrubber is moving along as it plays. Saved, closed project then reopened and still not moving. If I changed something to make this happen I haven’t a clue… any ideas on how to correct this

It’s called the playhead, not the scrubber. The timeline doesn’t move in FCP. You can either make the sequence fit to window or manually move the timeline while playing. I hate to do the latter because it distracts from viewing. The former is a pain if the sequence is long. Basically I just live with it.

FWIW– with the Magic Mouse while mouse pointer is in the timeline window a one finger swipe will scrub the timeline, two fingers jumps to the next edit point. If the pointer is in the Canvas one finger scrubs the playhead and two jumps to edits. And in the viewer one finger scrubs the viewer playhead and two fingers jumps to edit points in the timeline and opens the clip in the viewer.

Did you ever solve this? I’ve just got the same problem. Was fine this morning and now it’s stopped…?

I didn’t solve the problem. What helped was to save, close FCP
restart. Then went back in worked fine. It would be nice to know what creates the problem to begin with. It’s annoying…
