September 19, 2005 at 10:15 pmTrue. Well, you can in the Avid Media Composer 9000 and in Avid Symphony, anyway. The feature is called “Single-Field Step”, right? Can you do so on Xpress? I don’t think it does. It’ll handle single field resolutions, but that is a different thing than stepping through interlaced footage field by field.
Would be a nice feature request, I guess.
Two things I like about FCP and wish that Avid had:
Resolution Free Canvas
Mode Free Editing Tools ala FCPCheers.

September 20, 2005 at 1:01 pmOn a somewhat related note, can you disable fields when the playhead is paused/stopped?
It may be a hardware thing I’m using an AJA IO box. The stuttering vis while it’s paused it a bit disconcerting for some clients.
